حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنِ الْحُكَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِى وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولاً وَبِالإِسْلاَمِ دِينًا غُفِرَ لَهُ ذَنْبُهُ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ حُكَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "Whoever says upon hearing the caller to prayer, 'and I bear witness that there is no god except Allāh1 alone, who has no partners; and that Muhammad is His bondsman and messenger. I am satisfied with Allah as Lord, Muhammad as messenger, and Islam as religion,' will have his sins forgiven." Footnote: (1) Allāh is the Arabic name for the One and Only God, the same God shared by all monotheistic faiths (the name Allāh is often used by Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews). The name Allāh encompasses all the divine names and attributes of the Lord of the worlds, and hence has vast scopes of meaning. It is for this reason that Muslims consider it unique. حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ عَسْكَرٍ الْبَغْدَادِىُّ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِىُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ الْحِمْصِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِى حَمْزَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ النِّدَاءَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلاَةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِى وَعَدْتَهُ إِلاَّ حَلَّتْ لَهُ الشَّفَاعَةُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ جَابِرٍ حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ لاَ نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ غَيْرَ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِى حَمْزَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ. وَأَبُو حَمْزَةَ اسْمُهُ دِينَارٌ.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "Whoever says upon hearing the call [to prayer] (1). 'O God, Lord of this perfect call and of this lasting prayer, grant Muhammad the Wasīlah (2) and the superiority, and raise him up to the praiseworthy position which You have promised him,' shall deserve the intercession (of the Prophet) on the Day of Resurrection." (2) The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, explained what al-Wasīlah is in another hadīth in which he said, "Indeed, it is a station in Paradise which is not suitable except for a slave from amongst the slaves of God." حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى النَّيْسَابُورِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌعَنِ الزُّهْرِىِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ فُرِضَتْ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِىَ بِهِ الصَّلَوَاتُ خَمْسِينَ ثُمَّ نُقِصَتْ حَتَّى جُعِلَت ْخَمْسًا ثُمَّ نُودِىَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّهُ لاَ يُبَدَّلُ الْقَوْلُ لَدَىَّ وَإِنَّ لَكَ بِهَذِهِ الْخَمْسِ خَمْسِينَ. قَالَ وَفِى الْبَابِ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ وَطَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَبِى ذَرٍّ وَأَبِى قَتَادَةَ وَمَالِكِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ وَأَبِى سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِىِّ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
Fifty prayers were prescribed on the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, when he was taken on the Night Journey (1). They were then [gradually] reduced until they were five. Then he was called, "Muhammad, indeed My word (decree) is not changed, and Indeed, you have for these five the recorded merits of fifty prayers." The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "The five prayers and Friday prayer to Friday prayer are expiation of what was [committed] between them as long as no grave sins are committed (1)." حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَر َقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صَلاَة ُالْجَمَاعَةِ تَفْضُلُ عَلَى صَلاَةِ الرَّجُلِ وَحْدَهُ بِسَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ دَرَجَةً. قَالَ وَفِى الْبَابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَأُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَمُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ وَأَبِى سَعِيدٍ وَأَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ. وَهَكَذَا رَوَى نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ تَفْضُلُ صَلاَةُ الْجَمِيعِ عَلَى صَلاَةِ الرَّجُلِ وَحْدَهُ بِسَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ دَرَجَةً. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَعَامَّةُ مَنْ رَوَى عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِنَّمَا قَالُوا خَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ. إِلاَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ بِسَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ.
